Dazzling Dichroic!

by Amy on March 14, 2013

This week at LightArt, we have been busy working on this fantastic 9-foot diameter ring with Varia Ecoresin Lunar Dichroic sides.

Most people I talk to say “Dichroic??”, and for those of you who might be thinking something similar, Dichroic is a special Varia inner layer that changes color as you move around it.  Amazing in and of itself, we were stunned at the effect achieved through backlighting this material.  One part glory rays, one part Dutch sky circa the 1700′s, and three parts “wow”, backlit Dichroic just became my new favorite!

Simple, clean, and with just the perfect amount of flair, this fixture is sure to stop passersby in their tracks!

Hi Kevin, can you give me some background how ecoresin panel is produced?

    • Amy says:

      Hi Anne,
Our Varia Ecoresin panels are made in Salt Lake City, and each sheet is laid up by hand and pressed to form each sheet. It is a fascinating process that makes each sheet individual. 3Form offers thousands of interlayers including organics, and Full Circle products that work with developing countries to offer a one of a kind product. You can learn more about our parent company at http://www.3-form.com.

      Thanks for your interest!
